MLTC is proud to be awarded Tennismark status in 2017.

Tennismark is a way of recognising good standards and best practice at tennis venues in Britain. Tennismark is the tennis-specific version of the Clubmark best practice accreditation implemented by Sport England.

The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) awards this kitemark to Clubs that meet or exceed national guidelines in the 6 x following areas:

In brief these areas are:

  • Venue Management - MLTC has developed an action plan that has been endorsed by the management committee that keeps our development goals in focus. MLTC has stated policies and procedures contained within its constitution / rules, alongside specific policies and systems in place in the areas of safeguarding and child protection, equality and diversity, publishing images, risk assessment and health and safety etc
  • Workforce: MLTC is managed and promoted in line with good practice with each committee member assigned overseeing key management roles, our coaching team are all LTA accredited and we have a contract/service agreement with our coaching team, and we crucially have a welfare officer on the management team too.
  • Members and Players: MLTC has developed a comprehensive approach to communicating well with its members and delivers a range of social events (from American tournaments, Quiz nights/BBQ's to evenings out) and we have a structured approach to welcoming and inducting new members.
  • Coaching programme - MLTC has a comprehensive year round weekly tennis programme for all ages offering players from age 3 upwards coaching, social, and competitive play. We have all tennis equipment that is available to members and the public to make use of too.
  • Competition programme: MLTC delivers a comprehensive range of competitions and club sessions for all ages and standards this includes social club sessions in the week/weeknights and weekends, informal American tournaments through to club tournaments and involved in local Maidstone leagues, Kent and Aegon Team tennis.
  • Outreach and Promotion: MLTC working closely with our coaching team and Maidstone Borough Council have established links with local schools principally Palace Wood primary School and several others in the local area. We deliver taster sessions in the schools and encourage access to our courts for use by schools and juniors to enjoy playing tennis.

A significant amount of work has gone into our accreditation process, and this work continues everyday. Maintaining our Tennismark status is key to our club's ongoing success and future development.

It falls to every member to make their contribution by ensuring MLTC is a safe environment in which children, young people and those who may be vulnerable, can enjoy their tennis.

Our Welfare officer is:

Antonia Charalambous (MLTC Committee member) and is supported by all Maidstone LTC club  committee members to ensure we implement the principles and practices of Tennismark status to grow the club into the future.
